To Super or not to Super.....

So I have been very busy getting myself organised. As I am not going for over 6 months I would like to have it all settled in my mind with what I am doing. I am in a little chat group with my friends Carol and Nic. Carol is going over in March for several procedures which is so exciting for her! She's doing tummy, boobs and arms (at this stage) with Dr Angkana. Nic came back a few months ago after getting her arms done. She had Dr Ring who is the Doctor that I've booked with too. He has an excellent reputation. Mind you, they all seem to!  Nic's arms look fabulous by the way! It's so nice to now be at the stage where I can join in on our conversations about my plans too. I get serious FOMO so lucky that I knew in my head it would be happening one way or another!

The last 2 weeks have been about getting my finances sorted out. The story of my life! I decided to go through my superannuation which was really easy if anybody was wondering. Kate is my lovely rep and she's 'held my hand' through the whole process. I got a quote for a mid face/neck lift and a tummy tuck. I sent my photos which had me as quite a bit larger than I'll be at the time but I figured if any changes it would hopefully only go down once I am slimmer. I was ready to see my doctor who I had spoken to while starting my weight loss journey. I explained to him that my end goal / reward was to go to Thailand, that it looks amazing and is very safe, and that I would be asking him to fill in his portion of the forms to release some of my superannuation for medical purposes. He said he had never done one before and I explained that I would have the surgeons one with me so he could reference that while filling it in. I was also a bit cheeky and told him that it he didn't do it I would be going to a doctor who would say yes as I was doing it either way! All went well without any problems. This was then uploaded to the ATO with the quote from Destination Beauty and the surgeon's forms. Please note that Superannuation does not cover facelift and neck lift. It is for excess skin removal that is painful or uncomfortable to live with after excess weight loss. They do not cover elective surgery. I was applying for it for my tummy tuck.

I received a letter from the taxation department to say that this had all been approved and, if I was still wanting to go ahead with it, I should upload their letter along with identity verification to have the amount I wanted released. It was such an easy process and Kate had even shown the step by step instructions of how to do this on the taxation office website.

After all of that however I have decided that at this stage I am just going to go with the facelift and neck lift. They were my most pressing issues and the ones I wanted 'fixed' first and foremost. I desperately want the tummy tuck too but think I will wait for a couple more years. Once I had factored in my flights and accommodation as well as my insurance I realised that I would be scraping to have enough to cover everything. I knew I could factor this in to my super quote as it is all part of the surgery, but I was a stay at home mum for many years and just don't have enough superannuation to cover the lot. I have saved hard for my face and neck lift and I can enjoy my time there (a lovely little solo break for a week then my girls are joining for a week) and it won't break the bank.

I just wanted to write on here about the whole superannuation process for those who are considering using it. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly with getting the forms to you, so if you want to go down that path it's a great alternative.

Here's a link to the Destination Beauty website if you'd like to have a look at the prices x
